Fly.io launched Sprites.dev, a platform that provides stateful sandbox environments with checkpoint and restore capabilities. It solves two problems: safe development environments for running coding agents in YOLO mode, and an API for executing untrusted code securely. Sprites offers persistent filesystems, sub-second checkpoints for rollback, pre-installed development tools, automatic port forwarding, and scale-to-zero billing. The platform includes both CLI access for developers and a JSON API for programmatic sandbox execution, with client libraries in multiple languages.
