Flax Engine 1.12 has been released, bringing several notable additions to this C++/C# game engine. Key highlights include experimental web platform support via a WebGPU backend (currently C++ only, no C# yet), DDGI (Dynamic Diffuse Global Illumination) now marked as production-ready with improved performance (150 FPS at 4K on RTX 2080), a redesigned visual scripting graph editor with better readability and drag-and-drop pin connections, spring bone physics, MSDF font rendering, SDL3 backend support, a new direction navigation gizmo, and various quality-of-life improvements. Flax is source-available (not open source) under a commercial license with a 4% royalty only after $250K quarterly revenue, and supports builds for PC, Mac, Linux, consoles, mobile, and now web.
