A hobbyist built a mobile fish tank that lets a betta fish named Carrot navigate the real world. The tank sits on a tracked, differentially-steered robot platform. Computer vision tracks the fish's movements inside the tank and translates them into drive commands. After solving issues like uncontrolled spinning when the fish swam in circles, the system was tested in an arena and eventually at a grocery store, with mixed results. The project also explored training the fish to follow visual cues so it could 'walk' with its owner.
