Google Cloud announced several Firestore updates at Cloud Next '26. Key additions include native integrations with AI Studio, Claude Code, Cursor, and Codex via Firestore Skills and a remote MCP service for agentic app development. A new pipeline query engine (GA) brings hundreds of query capabilities including full-text search (preview) powered by Google search technology with strong consistency, geospatial queries, JOIN via subqueries, and bulk data manipulation operators. MongoDB compatibility is expanded with support for larger 16MiB documents, highly scalable change streams for real-time sync to BigQuery, collection drop commands, and flexible TTL offsets. Natural language querying via Gemini Code Assist is also available in preview. All features are part of the Firestore Enterprise edition.
