Foundation One is a free, open-source AI model for music production that generates musically coherent audio loops (stems) following specified BPM, key, bar count, instrument, timbre, and effects from text prompts. It runs locally on consumer GPUs with ~8GB VRAM and generates samples in under 20 seconds. The model excels at synths and supports MIDI export, style transfer, and integration with DAWs. A step-by-step installation guide covers setting up Git, Miniconda, a Python 3.10 virtual environment, PyTorch with CUDA, and the RC Stable Audio Tools Gradio interface. Limitations include no percussion/drum support and weaker performance on non-synth instruments.
