Figma has recently acquired Weavy, a promising AI-powered startup renowned for its innovative media generation technology. Established in 2024, Weavy has made significant strides in enhancing image and video creation through its unique platform that leverages multiple AI models such as Sora, Veo, Flux, and Ideogram.
Under the new brand, Figma Weave, Weavy’s team of 20 will join Figma, continuing to operate independently before eventually integrating fully with Figma’s platform. Weavy’s node-based workflow system allows users to work with an infinite canvas, applying professional editing tools and layer adjustments using prompts. This functionality empowers creators to execute complex editing tasks, including lighting and color changes, more seamlessly.
The innovative platform not only brings advanced editing capabilities to Figma but also facilitates the simultaneous use of multiple AI models, thereby letting users branch workflows and compare outputs effectively. This acquisition underscores Figma’s commitment to enhancing its design ecosystem by blending human craft with AI-generated creation.
Prior to acquisition, Weavy, based in Tel Aviv, successfully raised $4 million in seed funding. As Figma Weave, the platform is expected to significantly bolster Figma’s offerings, making the design process more expressive and fluid for users worldwide.
