MIT's Norman B. Leventhal Center for Advanced Urbanism has partnered with Mexico's UNAM, Mexico City government, and Mota-Engil Mexico on urban innovation projects addressing energy transition, waste management, and industrial revitalization. Key projects include converting a 990-acre landfill into an ecological restoration site, decarbonizing neighborhoods, and reimagining industrial zones. The initiative emphasizes cross-border collaboration and has spawned a sustainable construction startup (Forma Systems) focused on low-carbon building materials.
