Fedora Asahi Remix 43 is now available, bringing Fedora Linux to Apple Silicon Macs with several notable updates. The release is based on Fedora 43 with Linux kernel 6.17 and ships KDE Plasma 6.6 as the flagship desktop, adding OCR support in Spectacle, a new on-screen keyboard, and a first-run setup wizard. A GNOME 49 variant is also available. Both desktops benefit from RPM 6.0 with post-quantum cryptography support and the DNF5 backend for package management — a change not yet in mainline Fedora, expected in Fedora 44. Hardware improvements include Mac Pro support, working microphones on M2 Pro/Max MacBooks, and 120Hz refresh rate support for MacBook Pro 14 and 16 models. Installation requires a single curl command on Apple Silicon Macs running macOS 13.5 or later.
