Fedora 45 will enable IPv6-mostly support in NetworkManager by default. IPv6-mostly is a networking approach that primarily uses IPv6 while retaining IPv4 connectivity for legacy devices via DHCPv4 option 108 and 464XLAT CLAT. This incremental step sits between full dual-stack and IPv6-only, reducing IPv4 address consumption without breaking legacy device support. The Fedora Engineering and Steering Committee approved this change for the Fedora 45 release later in 2026.
