Fast Software: More Programmers, Not Fewer

Interesting take. Like all predictions I’ve heard, it’s plausible but too speculative to fully sway me. Looking to history though, it is reasonable to anticipate more jobs in the long term. But I also expect pain and for people to get left behind in favor of profits and progress. This is based on my very limited understanding and I feel naive about it so please do challenge my thoughts if you feel you have a better grasp.
Personally though I’m moving through a strange and unpredictable grieving process for the craft. Once I embraced coding it was clear to me that I found my calling. Those skills might not be as devalued as I feel they are when as I’m pressured to utilize AI agents for all of our development, but I don’t feel as distinguished as I once and I want that feeling of hard earned accomplishment again while doing something that I find rewarding second to second, minute to minute and hour to hour.

AI is everywhere and its getting better but we are nowhere near what this guy is talking about.

Another voice about the future. Which is kinda strange that we fear or await future so much, that present life became secondary.

Competing with Oracle, Adobe, and Microsoft isn’t a code generation problem. It’s a financial one. If you don’t have millions, it doesn’t matter how fast you can produce code.
