JDK 16 introduced support for Unix domain sockets in its socket channel and server-socket channel API, enabling faster and more secure inter-process communication between processes on the same host — and this works on Windows too. Additionally, JDK 17's first release candidate required no changes and is now the final release candidate ahead of the September 14th launch, alongside the free Oracle Developer Live online event focused on Java innovations.
