Today, we’re sunsetting one of the most important features in daily.dev’s history: Community Picks.
This wasn’t just a feature, it was the first time we gave the community the keys. Before Community Picks, daily.dev was purely an aggregated feed. The moment we launched it, everything changed. For the first time, developers could directly contribute posts and surface content they believed in. It became our first real experiment in community involvement. And in retrospect, it was one of the most successful things we’ve ever done.
Since November last year, community-contributed content has surpassed aggregated content on the platform. At its peak, Community Picks wasn’t just one of our top sources, it was the top source by every metric that matters.
Even more magical? We didn’t touch it. It worked because you made it work. The community did the curation. You spotted high-quality links. You shared what mattered. You made daily.dev better for everyone.
But platforms evolve (kind of).
And so today, we’re simplifying how contribution works. Instead of a separate Community Picks mechanism, anyone can now click New Post and contribute directly. That’s it. No extra steps. No abstraction.

To all past contributors:
Thank you. Seriously. You helped shape what daily.dev is today. Everything you’ve shared is still on the platform, just visit your profile and check the Posts tab. From now on, your contributions live under your name. That means:

<li>Better visibility for your profile</li>
<li>More reputation points (maybe)</li>
<li>And a faster path to grow your following</li>

It just got way easier to find the people behind the magic. You can now follow individual contributors instead of subscribing to a general source with hundreds of voices. It’s more precise. More personal. More aligned with how we think developer discovery should work.
We know some of you might miss the old flow. That’s valid. But this shift unlocks something better… for contributors, for content lovers, and for the platform.

Thank you! We understand that improvement is necessary, but I have a couple of doubts:

<li>Regarding the Feed:</li>

Until now, I was subscribed to Community Picks, so I used to get articles from multiple people. Now that it’s switched to individual sharing, how will it work in my feed?
Will I only see articles shared by people I follow, or is there some other logic?

<li>Regarding Duplicate Articles:</li>
</ol>
In Community Picks, an article could only be shared once by a person. If someone else tried to share the same article, it would show that it already exists.
So what happens now?
If multiple people share the same article?

Ooo, so that is why i recently could post under my name without a squad selection, good to know.

Really sad to see Community Picks go 🗯️.
It was such a great place to share and discover valuable content, and I think this is a good move — opening the door for everyone to contribute more easily🙌.

Well, for me it was the reason I picked daily.dev. Now it is a monster of everything with a lot of squads and it is not something manageable. I don’t like the outcome of what it evolved into. It is a mess.
It was THE aggregator where you could choose what you were interested in, and now? It is a social media platform.
