Same. Nothing beats it, everything around it fades away, it can still be used as long as computers as we know them exist. You can put them in version control, you could use core-utils programs to manage them in the 80s, and now you can use modern core-utils replacements to manage those same files. No cost, no subscriptions, no newsletters, no community forums with 2 users and unanswered questions, no google spying, no sharing your data to whoever happens to be working at amazon, no losing account access.
I’ve been trying to work out a solution for sharing notes with an app but they all suck and have basic functionality that is hopelessly broken. It’s a lot of headache for not much reward. It’s like, hey here’s sharing, but it only works in certain cases, and also here’s 20 more issues to cause you pain daily, and we’re gonna change the UI anytime we feel like it, ope it’s freemium now, ope we sold it. Now it’s dead and we’re gonna refer you to microsoft one note copilot 365 gates xp 7 which has no concept of what customer support is.

let me try obsidian. ive seen it before but i didnt take much time into it

Dumbpad is also kinda cool. Its basically the microsoft editor as a selfhostable website with a pin.

I am migrating my notes from markdown to emac’s org mode. Still plain text. Org mode just have so many good features. Aside from taking notes, I use it for task management and literate programming!
