Expo SDK 54 beta has been released with major updates for React Native developers. Key highlights include React Native 0.81 and React 19.1, up to 10x faster iOS builds via pre-compiled React Native, liquid glass UI support for iOS 26, Android 16 targeting with edge-to-edge and predictive back gestures, link previews and inline context menus via Expo Router, React Compiler enabled by default, improved OTA update controls with download progress and custom reload screens, and native tab navigation with liquid glass styling. SDK 54 is also the last version to include the legacy React Native architecture.
