Expo has raised a $45M Series B and launched Expo Agent in public beta, an AI-powered system built on Claude Code that helps developers go from prompt to production-ready iOS and Android apps. The company also hired Seth Webster, former Meta React lead and now executive director of the React Foundation, as chief developer evangelist. Webster argues that React Native's cross-platform, declarative model makes it well-suited for AI agents, and that maintaining a single codebase reduces token costs as AI-assisted development scales. Expo positions itself as the infrastructure layer that bridges AI code generation and actual app store deployment.
