Datadog has introduced Natural Language Queries (NLQ) for its Metrics Explorer, allowing users to explore metrics by typing plain-English questions instead of manually constructing query syntax. NLQ uses AI to translate requests like 'Show average CPU usage per host' into fully structured Datadog queries, applying the correct metric, filters, aggregations, and groupings automatically. The feature supports iterative refinement — users can follow up with phrases like 'Group by region' or 'Last 30 days instead' without rebuilding queries. NLQ is accessible from the Metrics Explorer, dashboards, notebook widgets, and Quick Graphs editor, and works with custom metrics that follow existing tagging conventions.
