<p>The water thing is wrong according to those that did the proper analysis (or at least is isn’t as big of a deal that most make it out to be).  The labs arn’t pretraining any longer, and I doubt they are scraping just to fine tune on something they are already good at. They are using sft/rlhf/rvlf/cot/inference/engeinering to make things better, so ‘model collapse’ is way overblown.</p>
