CCP Games, the Icelandic developer behind EVE Online, has been bought back from South Korean publisher Pearl Abyss for $120 million and is rebranding as Fenris Creations. The studio returns to independent operation under its own management and board of directors, with no planned layoffs or restructuring. EVE Online closed 2025 with record revenue in November and over $70 million for the year. Additionally, Google DeepMind has acquired a minority stake in Fenris as part of a research partnership focused on AI topics like long-horizon planning, memory, and continual learning, using an offline version of EVE Online as a research environment.
