Espressif Systems has announced the ESP32-S31, a dual-core 32-bit RISC-V SoC running at 320MHz with Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax), Bluetooth 5.4 (LE + Classic), IEEE 802.15.4 (Thread/Zigbee), and 1000 Mbps Ethernet MAC. Key features include 512 KB SRAM, 250 MHz DDR PSRAM support, 60 GPIO pins, a 128-bit SIMD data path, DVP camera interface, 8-24 bit parallel LCD support, JPEG codec, 2D graphics acceleration, up to 14 capacitive touch channels, and hardware-accelerated security with PUF-based key management, secure boot, TEE, and side-channel attack protection. The chip targets smart appliances, smart speakers, voice-controlled devices, smart home hubs, and industrial automation. It will be supported by ESP-IDF, ESP-Matter, ESP-GMF, ESP-Hosted, and ESP-AT frameworks.
