Eskom has lifted load reduction for 140,000 customers as part of a program targeting complete elimination by 2027. The utility has installed 299,236 smart meters nationally, with 104,000 on load reduction feeders, though progress faces delays due to community resistance. South Africa has experienced 266 consecutive days without load shedding, with energy availability factor reaching 65.03% and unplanned outages dropping by 4.2GW year-over-year. The improvements have reduced diesel expenditure by 43.6%, saving R4.8 billion compared to last year.
