OpenShift Dev Spaces can scale across multiple clusters using a new open-source multicluster redirector tool. The Quarkus-based routing service authenticates users via OpenShift OAuth, checks their group membership, and automatically redirects them to the appropriate Dev Spaces instance based on a configurable mapping. Users must be provisioned on the host cluster where the redirector runs, as OpenShift groups determine routing logic. The mapping between groups and Dev Spaces URLs is stored in a ConfigMap that updates dynamically without restarts. This solution enables enterprises to distribute workloads across clusters while providing a single entry point for developers.
