Recently ive been looking into Rust as a C++ developer and ive been finding it quite funny about the passionate competition the two communities have between each other. So I would love to hear what your thoughts are on each of these languages? As im quite new to c++ (only like 6ish months of experience) should I move over to Rust or just stick with C++ and what Im comfortable with? Context: I focus on Systems development such as game engines, Code editors and operating systems

End the war once and for all: C++ or Rust

I would say stick to c++ for now because it is widely supported and it is still a pretty good language and if you know c++ other languages can be far easier to learn but learn some of the rust basics as it is a new language which is slowly gaining popularity.

Stick to C++. C++ 26 will be game changer.

C++, it will stay around, Rust is sketchy (too new)

C++ is a good language to learn but if you’re already familiar with the core concepts (memory, adresses, references, templates) I suggest to dig into rust. The tooling is much better, you get a package manager for free, something still missing in the C++ world. And the library support is already great. Another option is zig but I don’t know it and it’s still very young.

They say Rust is zoomer C++ and I kind of agree.
