Enclave is a Ruby gem that embeds MRuby as an isolated VM inside a Rails process, allowing LLM-generated Ruby code to be executed safely. Instead of defining dozens of discrete tool functions for every possible query, you expose a small set of data-access methods and let the LLM write arbitrary Ruby to answer questions. The MRuby sandbox has no file system, network, or access to the host CRuby runtime, so dangerous classes like File, ENV, and system calls simply don't exist. Resource limits (timeout, memory cap) prevent infinite loops from hanging threads.
