A number of well-known AI researchers have signed an open letter calling on AI labs around the world to pause development of large-scale AI systems. The letter, published by the nonprofit Future of Life Institute, notes that AI labs are currently locked in an ‘out-of-control race’ to develop and deploy machine learning systems.

Why start a company if you going to try stop the mess you knew was going to happen? Silly Elon… Too late my friend… Pandoras box has been opened…

Pausing is the worst option, as it allows all the nefarious implementations that won’t self-regulate get ahead of the pack. Also, a little ironic coming from Elon “fully-self-driving” Musk, with several actual fatalities caused by Tesla’s AI.

Don’t understand the rationale behind pausing the immense leaps we’re seeing each week in AI products across the spectrum. I think OpenAI just pulled off a Steve Jobs by creating a marketplace for ChatGPT plugins. This is the next billion dollar marketplace waiting to happen.

This is honestly very dumb, it seems like they don’t understand the tech or tech in general.
AI, or more precisely GPT’s are not going to keep leaping like that for long there is a point where improvements will be lesser, like currently it’s gigantic leaps remember the first CPU’s and then it’s small generational improvements current CPU.
