A new Erlang Enhancement Proposal (EEP) extends EEP 8 to support binary literals like <<"start">> and <<"stop">> as singleton types in Erlang's type system. This allows type declarations (-type, -spec, -callback, record fields) to express precise binary value constraints, bringing binaries to parity with atoms and integers. The proposal also supports UTF-8 encoding annotations (<<"café"/utf8>>) and sigil syntax (~"hello"). An implementation PR against erlang/otp is already available.
