Eclipse GlassFish has undergone a major transformation since version 7.0, moving from a stagnant, unsupported server to a production-ready, enterprise-grade Jakarta EE 11 platform. Key improvements include monthly releases, commercial support from OmniFish with 24x7 SLAs, MicroProfile API support (Health, Config, REST Client, JWT), faster startup times, improved JDBC pool throughput, PKCS12 keystore by default, and Java 25 support. Embedded GlassFish is now viable for microservices and cloud containers. GlassFish was the first to pass Jakarta EE 11 Web Profile and Platform TCKs.
