AWS EC2 Auto Scaling now provides two new deletion protection mechanisms: a policy condition key (autoscaling:ForceDelete) for IAM policies that controls whether Auto Scaling groups can be force-deleted with running instances, and group-level deletion protection that can be configured during creation or updates. These features work together to create layered defense against accidental deletion of critical Auto Scaling groups and are available in all AWS Regions including GovCloud.
