A maker named Matt Gray built a custom adapter that lets his VanMoof electric bicycle charge at standard Level 2 EV car charging stations. By designing a 3D-printed enclosure housing the bike's battery charger connected directly to a car charging socket, he exploited the fact that lower-power EV chargers require no vehicle communication protocol. The setup was tested at a public lamppost charger and later miniaturized to fit on the bike's rear rack, significantly extending the e-bike's range by tapping into the growing EV charging infrastructure.
