I appreciate that this article captures what I’ve been feeling for a while now. The removal of my state of flow has been one of the most difficult aspects of coding with AI.
What I started doing is copying a chunk from my conversation with Claude Code and pasting it into Gemini, using the Learning feature, and having it quiz me on what I’m building at the conceptual, architectural, and systematic levels so that I can master my codebase along the way. I would do this while I’m waiting for my agent to finish executing a task that might take more than a minute.
It actually helped me achieve a greater sense of flow. It allowed me to stay in the same mindset because I was getting more familiar with my own codebase.
By the time the agent finished, I was able to continue the task with way more context at the top of my mind, and I felt that familiar feeling of accomplishment when I could fully understand what was being built (before AI lol).
I’m a junior developer btw, so I think it’s important for me to make sure that I’m learning along the way.

True. Besides this with the time you’re tending to hand over the whole coding work to the LLM. This is the logical and instictively based step, made by the human brain to save the enery. At the same time this is a degradation of your mental activity and coding skills.

I just want to ask, does the workforce of engineers actually fully rely on AI like this to generate codes?
The concept of treating it like a junior engineer is good, but the concept of the world already relying on AI so much scares me.
Just want to know how AI plays in the workplace.
