DuckDB successfully executed the TPC-H SF100 benchmark on modern smartphones, demonstrating significant performance improvements over past research systems. Using an iPhone 16 Pro and a Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, the study achieved runtimes of 478.2 and 235.0 seconds respectively, surpassing older high-end workstations. Enhanced cooling methods like using dry ice proved effective in improving performance. Comparatively, even certain AWS EC2 instances couldn't outperform the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra.
