The Raspberry Pi Pico 2 can drive a DAC at 150 million samples per second using its Programmable I/O (PIO) subsystem. The PiWave 150 MS/s Bipolar DAC achieves this speed by leveraging PIO's ability to transfer data from RAM to GPIO pins in parallel within a single clock cycle, matching the Pico 2's 150 MHz clock rate. This approach offers a microcontroller-based alternative to traditional FPGA solutions for high-speed DAC applications with 10, 12, or 14-bit resolution.
