DIY 3D Pen Is Born To Weld

A maker built a custom 3D pen optimized for plastic welding by using a standard 3D printer hot-end with a conductive brass nozzle instead of the low-conductivity tips found on commercial 3D pens. The result is faster heat transfer, quicker plastic extrusion, and stronger welds compared to commercial 3D pens and superglue. Strength tests show the DIY welding pen outperforms commercial pens and superglue, though traditional hot-air welding is still stronger. The design hasn't been released yet, but alternatives like using PLA in a hot glue gun or friction welding with filament are mentioned.
