disko-zfs is a Rust tool that declaratively manages ZFS datasets on a zpool using a JSON specification. It supports creating and modifying datasets and their properties, but intentionally never destroys datasets — it only reports what would be deleted. The tool integrates natively with NixOS via a module, allowing ZFS dataset state to be declared in Nix configuration and applied during `nixos-rebuild switch`. It also integrates with the existing `disko` tool, extending its dataset management capabilities beyond initial installation to ongoing lifecycle management.
