Discord is not Documentation - Terence Eden’s Blog I'm going to be slightly contrarian and say that I like Discord. In truth, Discord is no harder to sign up to than Slack, Matrix, Gitter, IRC, or whatever. There's no point posting everything to MySpace when everyone's already on Facebook.

Discord is good for quick chats but it’s hard to find detailed info on it. It’s not a replacement for clear instructions or guides. Without these, users waste time, ask the same questions, and newcomers might feel unwelcome. So, proper guides or at least a FAQ page can make things easier and help everyone get more from the product.

Could it be that developers are underestimating the value of comprehensive guides, relying too heavily on the community for troubleshooting?

I think Discord is slowly going to replace Slack for sure

Absolutely agreed - there’s no real substitute for proper documentation for an API or other technical project. A chat room is not it.
