Digg has announced a significant team downsizing after its beta relaunch struggled with two major challenges: an overwhelming bot and AI agent spam problem that undermined community trust, and the difficulty of competing against entrenched social platforms with strong network effects. Despite the setbacks, the company says it is not shutting down. A small team will continue with a reimagined direction, and founder Kevin Rose is returning full-time starting April to help redefine what Digg should become. The Diggnation podcast will also continue monthly.
