After filing a GDPR request, WordPress VIP claimed the data came from a 2022 meeting with WPScan, another Automattic-owned service, and denied any relationship with Apollo.io. The author is left without a clear explanation of how their personal data ended up being distributed to spammers, expressing frustration at companies treating personal data as a tradeable commodity.
