A Flutter plugin spin-off of FFmpegKit has been released as fully open source, supporting custom FFmpeg builds with 100+ external libraries. It targets Android, Linux, and Windows, with iOS and macOS support planned. The project ships 22 pre-built binaries covering Audio, Video, Video+HW, Full, and Base bundles under both GPL and LGPL licenses. A major API overhaul introduced a pure C API enabling use from any language via FFI, with full concurrency, parallel execution, and FFmpeg/FFprobe/FFplay support.
