Browser DevTools fragmentation is a hidden barrier to web platform feature adoption. While initiatives like Interop 2022 address browser implementation compatibility, no equivalent effort exists for DevTools tooling parity. The author proposes that DevTools teams collaborate — similar to Interop 2022 — to agree on baseline UI and tooling for key web features like CSS Grid, Flexbox, scroll snapping, and color functions. CSS Grid's cross-browser inspector support is cited as a model: consistent, discoverable tooling accelerated adoption. The proposal stops short of full standardization, preserving room for browser-specific innovation, but advocates for a shared baseline that reduces developer frustration when switching browsers.
