The term ‘DevOps’ was coined by Patrick Debois and Andrew Clay Shafer at the Agile Conference in Toronto in 2009. Since then, the term has taken on a life of its own, with “DevOps Engineer’ as a job title. The term has skewed towards the operations side of the fence.

DevOps is a failure

Making the developers life easier should be the absolute main point of a senior/cto’s job. The easier, smoother &amp; less complicated a dev’s role is the better innovative and efficient the dev team can be. And the writer is right, DevOps doesn’t make anyone’s life easier. The amount of times I’ve considered going back to a simple web server on a VM because a pipelines fucked up isn’t even funny.

I’ve only known about DevOps since I was given the oportunity to join a Bootcamp in November.
I knew there was something that bugged me about it, but couldn’t work out what. I think this article has highlighted it: It’s not a developer role, its an Ops role. I want to do the developer side (which is why I’m now focusing on Front End), not so much on the Ops side. Thank you @leeBriggs!

When I first explored the term DevOps it said “Developer Operations is a culture…” not a person with “do it all” . We really need the bridge between developers and Operations if Industries want to have smooth productivity
