Development gets better with Age

Very true, but explaining that to middle managers who have swallowed the AI hype is intensely frustrating. Some think all code should be written by AI and pointing out where either A) you’re faster because you know the domain or B) its generating slop is just a “skill issue” because you’re not prompting the model correctly. They seem to forget the objective is to DELIVER SOLUTIONS, AI and developers are just different means to achieve that. 
This will come and bite them hard down the line when using the models increases in price. A senior is someone who knows many of the answers already and so need to use the model less. Its a tradeoff that’s currently skewed in favour of the model because its cheap - but those prices will have to increase to justify the enormous amounts of model being spent building them and running them.

that aside, i love the perspective on older developers. the fact that the same principles always apply regardless of the actual trend is so true
