Coding is amazing, but coding for a company sucks.
The priority of every company is to ship fast, cheap, products to make the more amount of money as possible. This is a philosophy that doesn’t help anyone but the stakeholders.
Let get games by example in here. When we had only 1 chance to publish a game, and it could not receive updates, companies had to really make it the best that they could. Nowadays, most of AAA games are broken at launch to make more money and “we will fix it later”.
It’s very sad to see people being used to low quality products because no company make a high quality product anymore.

Is this of any surprise to anyone at all?
Being forced to use whatever the company’s using instead of what I want to use and not being able to go at the pace that I want to really, really sucks. Especially when it involves cutting corners.

All the projects I was given at work accumulated immense technical debt due to bad managment. That’s why I prefer to work on my own projects in my freetime.

If coding is like creative, artistic work, it’s only natural that you’d prefer to do it without constraints.

Yeah, my job is making UI updates for an ecommerce (which I do wholeheartedly). Outside of that I am doing my best to make something meaningful, effective, and efficient.
