WordPress 7.0 "Armstrong" was released on May 20th, with 7.0.1 in planning for mid-to-late June. The dev chat covered a publishing screen bug in the non-block editor (ticket #65286) that affects custom post types even without the Classic Editor plugin. The team agreed to deploy fixes via both the Classic Editor plugin (9M+ users) and the Hotfix plugin to maximize coverage. WordPress 7.1-alpha is also under active development.
