A reference architecture for deploying RAG-capable generative AI applications on Google Cloud using fully private network connectivity. The design uses Cloud Interconnect or Cloud VPN for external connectivity, Network Connectivity Center for route orchestration, Shared VPC for multi-project isolation, Private Service Connect for private access to Cloud Storage, and VPC Service Controls to prevent data exfiltration. Two key traffic flows are covered: the RAG population flow (data ingestion to vector store) and the inference flow (user queries through load balancer to the serving subsystem), all without traversing the public internet.
