Further, the petition accuses Oracle of committing fraud during the trademark renewal process in 2019.
The primary goal of this legal move is to recognize ‘JavaScript’ as a public good, maintained and utilized freely by the global developer community. The petition claims that Oracle’s ownership of the trademark has caused marketplace confusion and legal barriers, and that the term has become generic over time.
