Simon Willison announces the first release of Datasette Agent, an extensible AI assistant that brings together his LLM Python library and Datasette. It provides a conversational interface for querying data stored in Datasette, with support for chart generation via plugins. Three plugins are already available: datasette-agent-charts (Observable Plot), datasette-agent-openai-imagegen (ChatGPT Images 2.0), and datasette-agent-sprites (Fly Sprites sandbox). The live demo runs on Gemini 3.1 Flash-Lite and can be tested at agent.datasette.io. It also supports local models via LM Studio. Future plans include stable LLM 0.32 release, Claude Artifacts-style plugin, a personal AI assistant (Claw), and rollout to Datasette Cloud users.
