Databricks Lakebase, a new operational database architecture that separates compute from storage, is now generally available on AWS. Unlike traditional databases that couple compute and storage, Lakebase provides a serverless Postgres service that automatically scales, supports instant data branching, and runs directly on data lakes. The platform enables operational, analytical, and AI workloads to share the same governance and data foundation without data movement. Companies like Hafnia, Warner Music Group, and easyJet have used it to reduce development cycles, modernize legacy systems, and build real-time business applications. GA features include production-grade reliability, performance monitoring, and governance controls, with Azure GA coming in months and Google Cloud later this year.
