Hands-on testing of Java compatibility across four BeagleBoard single-board computers reveals mixed results. The ARM-based BeagleY-AI runs Java and JavaFX flawlessly out of the box using standard tooling like SDKMAN and JBang. The RISC-V boards present challenges: BeagleV-Fire ships with outdated Ubuntu 23.04 preventing package updates, while BeagleV-Ahead runs a custom Linux distribution without standard package manager support. The compact PocketBeagle 2 with ARM Cortex A53 should support Java but remains untested. BeagleBoard's imaging utility and documentation stand out as excellent resources for getting started.
