Shopify's Admin GraphQL API version 2026-07 now exposes the taxSettings field on the Customer object publicly. Apps with the appropriate read customer data access scopes can query a customer's tax ID (e.g., VAT number) collected and validated during checkout. This is a read-only change returning the tax ID as a string or null. The validation status sub-field remains restricted to apps with approved protected customer data access. This aligns with existing B2B customer tax settings available since API version 2025-01.
