Developer Lyra Rebane has built an 8086 CPU emulator written in pure CSS, demonstrating CSS's Turing completeness in a novel and experimental way. The project runs in Chrome-based browsers (using CSS functions not yet available in Firefox) and uses a tiny JavaScript snippet only for clock stability. While not practically useful, it showcases the extreme limits of CSS as a computational medium and invites speculation about more capable minimalist RISC designs using the same approach.
