Craft CMS has released version 6.0.0-alpha.1, marking the completion of a year-long effort to fully port the codebase from Yii to Laravel. The control panel UI is being rebuilt as a Vue/Inertia app, with weekly updates planned. Three new Yii-inspired Laravel packages were also released as standalone open source packages: laravel-aliases, laravel-dependency-aware-cache, and laravel-ruleset-validation.

Craft CMS just dropped the first Craft 6 alpha, with the whole codebase rewritten from Yii to Laravel.

The control panel is also being refactored to use Vue and Inertia. It is still in an early stage, but a big shift.

<p>This is going to be very interesting. We have been using craft cms for a long time, I wonder how will this rewrite impact upgrade path and overall stability of the platform.</p>
